One of the things I insert in my itinerary every time I visit a foreign city are Museums. When I visited New York City last May, I know I have to visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art or The Met at some point. It’s the largest art museum in the United States, and among the most visited art museums in the world.
A little trivia, did you know that celebrities and such strut their designer dresses in the museum on red carpet there? The fashion event is called “Met Gala” which i’m sure you have heared about. This party is actually not a fancy shmancy one, it is actually a fund raising party where the collected income is for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Talk about fashion for a cause!
Since my mom doesn’t like museums that much, we didn’t get to cover everything. I mean, it would take you days to see everything in the museum. We even got lost in some of the rooms in the Renaissance Period because we didn’t bother using the map of the museum. But i’m glad we visited Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, Chinese Ceramics, Collecting the arts of Mexico, Liturgicals from Egypt & everything Egypt. Another thing is, I have an obsession with everything Egypt, it’s their history and culture that I have always been curious about. No wonder I love watching films that is set in an Egyptian Era. So sad though that they don’t produce movies like that now. Or maybe there is?
Albeit we didn’t have a lot of time to spend in the museum it feels like you get your time and moneys worth (if you just wanna check out the place and be there for like 15 good minutes, you can pay a few bucks versus the suggested 25$ entrance fee), you get to see A LOT of exhibits that is jaw dropping. Since it was our last day in the City we didn’t want to splurge it just in one place, so we then decided to go to 5th ave. and check out what they have to offer! Nonetheless, we mananged to find interesting pieces of arts and historical trivias that I only knew just now. Will totally go back soon and visit other museums!
